April 2nd is World Autism Awareness Day ...
Did you know that we screen ALL of our patients for autism at their 2 year old check up? However, many patients with autism display neurodivergent signs much earlier.
At your child’s checkup, our providers will ask questions to ensure that your child is developing typically. If you have concerns about your child’s development, please voice those concerns! We will discuss with you if certain behaviors are expected for age or if there is need for further evaluation.
With development differences, early intervention is key! We are blessed to have fabulous speech, occupational, and physical therapists in our area who are instrumental in helping children with delays/differences become the best versions of themselves.
Autism Speaks (https://www.autismspeaks.org/first-concern-action) has resources for parents and can help you understand what to expect during your child’s evaluation.
If you have concerns about your child, please call Infants' and Children's Clinic to schedule an appointment. We are here for you!
