OUR PROJECTS INCLUDE:
Oral Health
Our office was the first office in Alabama to begin offering fluoride varnish through the Alabama Medicaid FirstLook program started in 2009. This program helps us provide advice about care of children’s teeth as well as protecting at risk infants and children from early cavities. We work with our local dentists and pediatric dentists to get children started off right with a healthy smile. This program started in North Carolina where they have seen an almost 50% decrease in the need for fillings in children.
Reach Out & Read
Our Reach Out & Read program started in 2008 and since then we have distributed over 69,000 books to children at well care visits age 6 months through 5 years. Our many local supporters have helped continue funding for this program. We are grateful to the families and organizations that continue to donate time, money or books to our program. We appreciate the involvement of our legislators. Senator Irons and Representative Burdine joined us as judges for our Very Hungry Caterpillar costume contest as part of Books-A-Million’s Summer of a Million Books 2011. ADOLESCENT WELL VISIT
LEARNING COLLABORATIVE
At Infants’ & Children’s Clinic, P.C., we strive to provide the best, most comprehensive care for all of our patients. Over the next few years, our clinic, along with over 25 other practices across Alabama, has decided to focus on the care we deliver to our patients between 12 and 18 years of age. This includes providing a safe and confidential space to discuss their medical issues, following evidence-based guidelines for screening, and preparing them for the transition to adult medical care.
In today’s world, there are many choices for how our adolescent patients might receive health care services. At Infants’ & Children’s, we can provide every aspect of care (sick visits, well visits, sports physicals, laboratory testing, referrals, etc.) in one convenient location.
Building on a tradition beginning in 1956, we will continue our journey of becoming a better clinic for you and your family.
TINY CUBS
COMMUNITY BABY SHOWER
Infants and Children is proud to participate in the Tiny Cubs Community Baby Shower, an event hosted by the Anderson College of Nursing and Health Professions at the University of North Alabama. This event is designed to help expecting parents prepare for their growing families by offering educational sessions, access to healthcare professionals, and essential baby supplies.
Through initiatives like Tiny Cubs, Infants and Children continues to support and empower families with the knowledge and resources they need for a healthy start. We are committed to fostering a nurturing community where every child can thrive.
